A Song For Christmas
Over 50 schools from across the area entered the competition to write and record an original composition. St Barnabas triumphed following a huge audience vote. Listen again
Acoustic Festival
Thousands of music lovers headed to Nantwich for a weekend of top live music from some of the UK’s most talented performers, and Cheshire's Silk 106.9 were very much at the heart of things. Listen again
Acoustic Sessions
To celebrate our 10th birthday, Rachel Houghton invited 10 of the area’s local bands in to perform a cover version of a track from each of years since Cheshire's Silk 106.9 began broadcasting. The results were pretty impressive. Listen again
Bring A Pound To Work Day
We ripped up the usual schedule and dedicated an entire day to raising money for the East Cheshire Hospice. Over 400 businesses got involved, and together we raised over £20,000 for the charity. Listen again
Chelsea v MTFC Final
One of the biggest days in the club’s history saw Macc Town travel to Chelsea in the 3rd round of the FA Cup. Cheshire's Silk 106.9's Steve Jackson and Jonathan Crowther joined the thousands of Silkmen fans on a fantastic day in the capital. Listen again

One Autumn afternoon, Macclesfield’s highways went in to total gridlock as the Silk Road was closed following what turned out to be a hoax bomb threat. We were inundated with calls from listeners eager to share their knowledge of the situation. Listen again

Super Surgery

Cheshire's Silk 106.9 covers a brilliant area; Loads of small and medium-sized characterful towns and villages surrounded by acres of lush Cheshire countryside. Our Town Today campaign saw us getting out and about to as many of these places over a fortnight. Listen again
