A police sergeant from Cheshire has appeared in court accused of murdering his wife, who was a detective in the same force.
Darren McKie is alleged to have killed Leanne at the home they shared with their three children in Wilmslow in Cheshire last Thursday.
Her body was found in Poynton Lake the following day.
The 43 year-old, who served with Greater Manchester Police and of Burford Close, Wilmslow is due back in court tomorrow morning, October 4.
Meanwhile, Cheshire Police has once again appealed for further information. They had shone particular interest on the 39 year old victim’s car – a red mini.
Now, officers are keen to hear from four people believed to have been walking near Poynton Park on the morning the body was discovered.
Detective Inspector Adam Waller from Cheshire Police, said “We are continuing to appeal to anyone who has any information in relation to Leanne’s death to come forward. In particular we would like to speak to a group of four people who were walking past Poynton Lake in the early hours of Friday 29 September. The group were seen walking along A523, London Road North, towards Stockport at approximately 12.15am. ”
He added, “Leanne was a devoted mum of three young children and a dedicated officer who worked tirelessly to support victims of crime. Her family, friends and colleagues have been left totally devastated by her death and she will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.
“I urge anyone who has any information that could assist our investigation, no matter how small, to get in touch.”
