49 year old Steven Farrish was cycling on the A523 London Road in the early hours of Saturday morning, October 21.

Tributes have been paid to a “stunning musical talent.”

Cyclist, 49 year old Steven Farrish, was involved in a hit and run in Macclesfield in the early hours of Saturday, October 21 and sadly died in hospital.

Cheshire Police officers were called shortly before 1am to the A523 London Road, Lyme Green to reports of a fatal collision

Two people were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. A 31 year old man and 24 year old woman, both from Leek, have been questioned and released under investigation.

His family has issued a short statement:

“We are devastated by the loss of Steven. He was loved and will be missed. We as a family would respectfully request to be given time to grieve.”

On social media, the “popular” keyboard player was described as “incredibly talented” and “happy.”

One user wrote, “A more funny, talented and musical friend you couldn’t wish for!! A massive loss to many, many people! You will always stay in my memory! Fantastic to have known you and been a friend!”

While one of his fellow band members took to Facebook to write,  “He brought an extra flair for the ridiculous to the party as well as a stunning musical talent, but most of all he brought himself.

“He was funny he was awkward and at times a royal pain, but he was ours and we loved him for it, we will miss him always and the experience will never be the same.”

Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to contact Police on 101, quoting incident number 44 of October 21.
