Commissioner grateful for Community Cashback Fund applications

The Community Cashback Fund supports local projects by investing money seized from criminals back into the community under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).

The Community Cashback Fund was made up of £90,000 and the Commissioner received over four times that amount in bids during the application window. Each application was reviewed by a panel made up of local representatives and police officers who were able to have their say on the projects.

The successful applicants have now been announced and the Commissioner plans to visit each project in coming months.

Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire, John Dwyer, said:

“I would like to thank every single applicant for putting their project forward to the Community Cashback Fund, I am delighted that there was so much interest and the decision process wasn’t easy.

“The principle of the Community Cashback Fund is that money is spent by the community, for the community, in the community and it has been great to hear about all of the brilliant ideas residents have to shape their neighbourhood into an even safer and more positive area.”

All applications had to meet at least one of the Commissioner’s Police and Crime Plan priorities, these are:

  • Prevent and tackle crime
  • Make Cheshire's roads safer
  • Deliver justice for victims of crime
  • Protect vulnerable and at-risk people
  • Improve public confidence in policing
  • Modernise our police service

John Dwyer added:

I am now looking forward to visiting the successful projects and hearing about the difference that they are making to communities across Cheshire. I would like to encourage everyone to visit my website and take a look at the successful projects that will be operating in their area.”

Information on the successful projects can be found on the Commissioner’s website:
