Drug dealer jailed following Winsford stop check

A man who was dealing class A and B drugs on the streets of Winsford has been jailed.

Iain Alexander appeared at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday 8 November where he was sentenced to three years in prison.

The 32-year-old of Robinson Lane, Winsford, had previously pleaded guilty to two counts possession with intent to supply Class A drugs (heroin and cocaine) and possession of Class B drugs (cannabis).

He also admitted possession of criminal property, possession of a weapon designed to discharge electrical incapacitation, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.

The case began Monday 9 October when officers on patrol in Winsford stopped a silver car on Saxons Crossway.

Alexander was driving the vehicle and upon speaking to officers he immediately admitted that he didn’t hold a full driving licence.

Following the admission officers searched Alexander and found a small wrap of brown powder in his sock along with three mobile phones and a large amount of cash.

While searching his car officers discovered a foil lined bag containing suspected stolen goods along with a rectangular shaped keyring which was subsequently found to be an electrical incapacitation device.

Alexander was arrested at the scene for multiple offences and taken to custody at Middlewich.

Following his arrival in custody, officers conducted a thorough search which led to the discovery of a kinder egg containing wraps of heroin and cocaine which was concealed in his buttocks.

During subsequent analysis of the mobile phones’ officers discovered a number of text messages which clearly showed that Alexander was involved in the sale of illegal drugs.

Detective Constable Claire Heatley, of Northwich Proactive Policing Team, said:

“Illegal drugs have a hugely detrimental impact on our communities, and I were committed to doing all we can to ensure that those responsible are held accountable for their actions.

“Our investigation compiled a catalogue of evidence to bring a stop to Alexander’s offending, and despite his refusal to answer any questions in custody, he is now behind bars facing the consequences of his actions.

“This sentence should send a strong message to anyone wanting to bring drugs into Cheshire that this will not be tolerated.

“If you have any concerns about drugs activity in your community, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us via 101 or through our website.”
