MP Calls On Bellway Homes To Resolve Broken Cross Junction Safety Concerns

Macclesfield MP, David Rutley, has written to the Chief Executive of Bellway Homes requesting an urgent meeting to discuss how the business will address the outstanding issues identified in the safety audit relating to Broken Cross junction.

From discussions with local residents and business owners on the junction, it is clear there continues to be serious concerns in relation to road safety at the junction, affecting both road users and pedestrians.

David has been in regular contact with the Chief Executive of Cheshire East Council on this important local issue from the beginning of the project. He has raised concerns such as traffic flow confusion and the need to better communicate with local residents. He has also met on site with Council officers to review road safety issues.

The Council has written to David, explaining that Bellway Homes are responsible for the costs of implementing the necessary changes needed at the junction. These are required to address the several outstanding issues from the safety audit that Bellway Homes are responsible for, in order for the junction to pass this important audit.

Given the length of time that it is taking for this matter to be resolved and the serious concerns relating to this situation, David has written to Mr Jason Honeyman, Chief Executive of Bellway Homes, to request a meeting, to discuss next steps and a time frame for completion of the outstanding conditions.

Speaking on this important local issue, David said:

“From regular communication with Cheshire East Council regarding the junction, it is clear that Bellway Homes have the responsibility to make the necessary changes to the Broken Cross junction to ensure it passes its safety audit. Local residents and business owners are right to expect that the outstanding issues at the junction are properly addressed. I urge Bellway Homes to take forward the necessary actions as a priority. I look forward to meeting with their team in the near future.”
