Detectives are appealing for information following an attempted robbery in Crewe.
At around 12.15pm on Saturday 19 November, a 21-year-old man was walking along an alleyway behind Middlewich Street towards McColls when a man approached him believed to have been armed with a small knife.
He demanded his wallet which the victim refused, the suspect then slashed the victim’s coat.
The victim sustained a scratch on his stomach as a result.
At the time of the incident, the offender was wearing a grey hoodie with the hood up, dark tracksuit bottoms with holes in and work-type safety boots.
Officers are now appealing for anyone with information to assist with their enquiries.
Detective Constable Vicky Greenhoff said: “We currently have a number of enquiries underway, and we will be doing all we can to locate the person responsible and bring them to justice.
“Thankfully the man only sustained minor injuries however the ordeal he had to endure is no-less terrifying.
“There will be officers patrolling the area over the coming days and I would urge anyone with concerns to raise them with officers.
“As part of our investigation we are keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the Middlewich Street area around the time of the incident and may have seen something that didn’t look quite right.
“The same goes to anyone who may have footage and has not yet spoken to an officer.
“Also, I would urge anyone who believes that they may know who is responsible or has any information that could assist to please get in touch with us.”
