Detectives investigating a burglary in Wilmslow are appealing for information from members of the public.
The occupant of the house returned to his home, on Manchester Road, and was punched to the face by two men on his doorstep.
The men, armed with knives, asked the man for his watch before kicking open the front door and taking four high value watches from inside a safe.
The pair, wearing gloves and balaclavas, then fled the property in an unknown direction. They are believed to have a Liverpool and Manchester accent.
The victim sustained an injury to his eye which was treated by paramedics.
The burglary occurred at 11pm on Thursday 26 May.
Detectives are appealing for anyone who has information, CCTV or dash cam footage to get in touch.
Detective Constable Andy Megson, of Macclesfield local policing unit, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing but at this stage we believe it is possible these men were waiting for the occupants to arrive home in order to confront them and steal their jewellery.
“Although there have been no further reports, to reassure the local community we will have officers visible in the area and are encouraging residents to be vigilant.
“I want to take this opportunity to encourage residents to check their CCTV or dash cam footage and to come forward if they have information that could assist with our investigation.
“I would also ask anyone who may have seen or heard two men in the area shortly before and after the burglary took place to get in touch.”
