Police are appealing for witnesses and video footage following a fatal collision on the A556 near Northwich.
Shortly after 4.30pm on Monday 17 June police were called to reports of a collision on the A556, Chester Road, near to the Vale Royal Abbey Arms public house.
Officers attended the scene and there had been a collision between a grey BMW 118l and a black Volkswagen Transporter van.
Sadly, the driver of the BMW, a 61-year-old man from Northwich, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
A passenger from the BMW, a 48-year-old man from Chester, and the driver of the van, a 70-year-old man from Chester, also sustained serious injuries.
Both men were treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the Royal Liverpool Hospital.
Enquiries in relation to the collision are ongoing and officers are keen to hear from anyone with any information which may aid the investigation.
Chief Inspector John Forshaw, of the Serious and Complex Collision Investigation Unit at Cheshire Police, said:
“Our investigation is in the early stages, and we are committed to doing all we can to establish what took place.
“As part of our enquiries we’re keen to hear from anyone who believes they may have witnessed the collision.
“We would also like to hear from anyone who believes that they may have seen either the BMW or the van in the moments prior to the to the incident.
“We believe that the BMW had been travelling from Chester towards Northwich, while the van was travelling in the opposite direction towards Chester.
“The same goes for anyone with any dashcam footage which may aid the investigation.”
