Police are appealing for witnesses and video footage after a man was seriously assaulted in Northwich town centre on Christmas Eve.
At around 3am on Saturday 24 December the victim, a 48-year-old man from Crewe, was sat on a bench at the top of Witton Street, opposite Wetherspoons, when he was approached by an unknown man.
The pair were involved a short verbal altercation, before the victim was punched in the face, causing him to fall to the floor and sustain a fractured jaw.
Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.
Detective Sergeant Ross Hamilton, of Northwich CID, said: “The victim in this case sustained serious injuries and we are committed to doing all that we can to identify the person responsible.
“At the time of the incident the victim was wearing a distinctive bobble had with tassels hanging down to his shoulders.
“As part of our investigation we’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and believes they may have witnessed the incident; the same goes for anyone with any video footage.
“I’d urge anyone with any information, no matter how small, to contact the team here at Northwich on 101, or at:
