Appeal for information following serious collision in Macclesfield

Police are appealing for witnesses and video footage following a fatal collision in Macclesfield.

At 9:46am on Monday 4 March police responded to reports of a collision outside of a Cooperative Store on Buxton Road, Macclesfield.

Attending the scene, officers found that there had been a collision between a white Volkswagen Transporter and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 92-year-old local man, was taken to Macclesfield Hospital with life threatening injuries. Sadly, he has since passed away.

The driver of the van, a 34-year-old man was uninjured.

Inspector Steve Griffiths, of the Serious and Complex Collision Investigation Unit, said:

"This collision happened in daylight hours near a very busy road, so it is highly likely it was witnessed.

"If anyone did witness the incident or the lead up to the collision itself, I ask you to contact us please.

Likewise, if you have CCTV in the area or dashcam that captured the incident it would really help piece together the events".
