BIGGEST EVER “CHESHIRE WORKS 4 U” VIRTUAL JOBS FAIR

The next “Cheshire Works 4 U” virtual jobs fair to be held in Cheshire and Warrington takes place for the third time on Wednesday 28 October from 10.00am to 2.00pm and promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Macclesfield’s MP, David Rutley, and other local MPs, are giving their strong support to the important event.

As circumstances have changed during the coronavirus pandemic, new initiatives have been developed to help support people into employment. Virtual jobs fairs, under the “Cheshire Works 4 U” banner, have played a leading role in assisting job seekers, with the two previous events having involved hundreds of businesses and provided hundreds of jobs for those looking for work opportunities and to improve their career options.  The last event focussed on Crewe and Nantwich and attracted over 16,000 views both live and on demand.

At the upcoming “Cheshire Works 4 U” event on 28th October, job seekers from across the region can log on to a live four-hour broadcast where they will be able to view short videos from over 70 companies with vacancies spanning many industry sectors. Employers which participate in the event will be able to promote their organisation and showcase their vacancies free of charge. This will enable them to connect with a wide audience of potential future employees with a wide range of skills, knowledge and experience from across Cheshire. 

The organisations involved create a 2 to 5 minute video about their employment opportunities. Members of their team are then available to enter the Learn Live Chat Room to answer any questions from candidates, while their video about job vacancies is playing and for an hour afterwards. They will also drop into the chat on a regular basis after the event - until the following Monday when the chat will end.

The events are organised in a partnership involving DWP’s Jobcentre Plus Cheshire team, Cheshire & Warrington LEP, Cheshire East Council, the Pledge and Learn Live, and is supported by many local businesses and Chambers of Commerce. David has been an active supporter of this important initiative and, along with other local MPs, is working hard to promote the latest virtual jobs fair.

Prior to the event, David met with Charlie Buckwell, Global President at McCann Health Medical Communications and the event partners to review plans for the virtual jobs fair and to discuss how it will help the business with its recruitment plans. Mr Buckwell explained that the business, which employs hundreds of people locally, has its head office in Macclesfield and it is actively recruiting for its expanding workforce, as it responds to the coronavirus pandemic. He also highlighted how the event fits with the company’s strategy of conscious inclusion and its plans to recruit more young people, particularly in its digital, IT and human resources functions.

After the meeting with McCann Health, David said, “I am giving my full support to the next Cheshire Works 4 U virtual jobs fair. It is vital that we enable job seekers and those who are looking to improve their employment options access to all the career opportunities that are available across Cheshire. I hope that as many local companies as possible are able to take part in this innovative event – it will play an invaluable role in their recruitment plans.”
