A Macclesfield Hospital consultant has presented a cheque to East Cheshire NHS Charity following an event in which colleagues, musicians, and the local community came together for a night of live music.
Jochen Fischer, Consultant Orthopaedic and Upper Limb Surgeon, led his band, the Imperial Bees, in a special fundraising event at Broken Cross Social Club in September.
The event, titled ‘An Evening of Rock Music’, featured support from fellow Macclesfield-based band The Filters, with an eclectic mix of melodic groove rock and high-energy performances, and all funds raised going towards improving patient experience and staff wellbeing.
Formed during the pandemic, the three-piece band - made up of Jochen, his wife and guitarist Sabine, and fellow guitarist Joe Wolverson - has grown into a creative outlet and one of Macclesfield’s most intriguing bands.
Jochen recently presented a cheque for £331.60 to the Trust’s charity and another event is planned for Saturday 31st January 2026, from 2-7pm, at the Queens Hotel in Macclesfield.
Jochen said:
“It’s been fun organising the event, but also a lot of work”
“My priorities were to raise funds for the charity, but also to bring people together outside work.
“I think between everyone involved we managed to achieve these goals.
“I’m already planning for the next event on the 31st of January next year at the Queens Hotel with four bands playing which will have a voluntary donation on the door.
“A special thanks Lily Preston (Fundraising and Events Manager at the Charity) for all her support!”
