Cheshire Women's Cricket League - Summer Series - Latest Results

Summer Series Western Division –  August 6:

Upton 97-2 (20; Lily Scudder 60) (25pts)

Chester Boughton Hall 86-4 (20; Ali Cutler 39, Philippa Dagger 2-9) (6pts)

·         Lily Scudder and Philippa Dagger led the way to what is surely Upton’s greatest victory in their short history.

August 9:

Porthill Park 202-4 (30; Evelyn Jones 50, Georgia Norman 40*, Emily Stones 35*, Becky Cripwell 27, Freya Davies 2-33) (25pts)

Oxton 76 (20.4; Tessie Nickson 28, Grace Potts 3-1, Amy Griffiths 2-3, Ellie-Mae Davies 2-10) (4pts)

·         A genuine team batting effort from Porthill as a number of players both got a start and went on to score rapidly, and duly led their side to the first team score in excess of 200 this year. After her dismissal for 50, Evelyn Jones’ batting average for the year fell to 170. A fine spell from Grace Potts followed as Porthill completed their latest victory.

Chester Boughton Hall 77-7 (30; Seren Smale 21) (3pts)

Nantwich 82-2 (20; Madi Hudson 40*) (25pts)

·         More evidence of the exciting strides being made at Nantwich as they beat Chester with all of 10 overs and eight wickets in hand.

Summer Series Eastern Division – August 4:

Leigh 73-5 (16; Daisy Mullan 35, K Carson 2-6) (8pts)

Didsbury 77-5 (14.3; Hannah Jones 31, Zara Matthews 29*) (25pts)

·         Hannah Jones and Zara Matthews have won a number of matches for Didsbury in recent years as a spin bowling partnership, but here they combined to score 78% of their team’s runs in rapid time. Leigh must have fancied their chances earlier when opening bowlers Kasey Bentham and Poppy Donohue reduced Didsbury to one run for two wickets after 20 balls of the reply.

August 6:

Ashton-on-Mersey 79-6 (20; Claire Anderton 41, Natalie Bell 3-17) (7pts)

Stockport Georgians 80-5 (17.1; Emily Thomas 33, Amanda Gettins 3-7) (25pts)

·         Stockport Georgians became the last team in the Eastern Division to record a win this year, reversing the result from the previous Sunday. Emily Thomas got their run chase off to a flying start and Georgians got home with room to spare, despite another fine spell from Amanda Gettins later in the innings.

August 9:

Stockport Trinity 149-6 (30; Jenny Dunn 71*) (25pts)

Leigh 119-8 (30; Ellie Davey 39*, Dunn 2-17, Alice Smith 2-18, Emma Royle 2-19) (7pts)

·         Former Cheshire captain Jenny Dunn carried her bat through the innings to make the lion’s share of the runs as Stockport Trinity remained unbeaten. A series of early wickets then snuffed out Leigh’s hopes of a successful run chase.

Didsbury 163-4 (30; Roshini Prince-Navaratnam 72, Mishel Jeena 37*, Hannah Marshall 25, Tess Bailey 2-30) (25pts)

Stockport Georgians 94-6 (30; Emily Thomas 50*, Zara Matthews 3-13, Jones 2-7) (5pts)

·         Another hugely impressive performance from Didsbury in all departments maintains their own 100 per cent record. Roshini Prince-Navaratnam scored at slightly more than one per ball and Mishel Jeena at slightly less than one per ball as they set their opponents a stiff target. Emily Thomas made runs for the second match in succession in the Georgians reply but regular wickets at the other end ensured victory for the Manchester club. Both of the scheduled meetings between Didsbury and Trinity are during the last three weeks of the season, so can the two clubs remain unbeaten until then?

Summer Series Development Division –  August 4:

Wistaston Village 82-5 (20; Nikki Jarvis 38*, Jenny Marvel 2-12) (7pts)

Chester Boughton Hall 2nd XI 86-3 (14.2; Mandy Humphreys 31*, Juliet Wiles 27) (25pts)

·         A half-century opening stand between Mandy Humphreys and Juliet Wiles set Chester on the way to a run chase they completed with something to spare.

August 9:

Lindow 106-3 (20; Jo Seddon 27, Claire Ashworth 25*, Ashlee Barnes 21, Ella Hirst 2-11) (25pts)

Langley 87-9 (20; Natalie Stevens 23, Lily Beckley 2-12, Hannah Brooks 2-13, Ashworth 2-18) (7pts)

·         Langley gave a spirited performance in their first fixture since joining the league, but Lindow’s three-figure target proved too stiff.
