The results of the weekend's cricket matches involving Cheshire's women's teams.
Summer Series Western Division – August 23:
Oxton 69-4 (30; Freya Davies 13*) (25pts)
Nantwich 51 (19.2; Grace Michel 11*, Davies 3-7, Hattie Nickson 3-19, Ellie Grisdale 2-7) (2pts)
· Oxton edged a low scoring contest and lifted themselves off the bottom of the table as they became the last team in either of the two senior divisions to register a victory this year.
Upton 80-8 (30; Madi Arthur 13*, Gemma Rose 3-23) (25pts)
Chester Boughton Hall 68-6 (30; Rose 16*, Philippa Dagger 2-11, Ellen McGowan 2-13) (5pts)
· Another low scoring affair saw Upton strengthen their grip on second place by completing a league double over Chester. Porthill Park were not in action today, but the two results mean they will clinch the Western Division title with two games to spare if they beat Upton next Sunday.
Summer Series Eastern Division – August 20:
Didsbury 121-1 (16; Roshini Prince-Navaratnam 61*, Leesa Mellon 32*) (15pts)
Stockport Georgians 121-7 (16; Liv Bell 40, Hana Rafiq 2-27) (15pts)
· Didsbury maintained their unbeaten record, but lost their 100 per cent record, in an extraordinary tied match at Stockport Georgians. It all seemed to be going to plan for Didsbury when Roshini Prince-Navaratnam continued her superb recent form and her side scored in excess of 7.5 runs per over. However, their opponents duly matched that total, coming within an ace of what would have been the finest victory in their short history.
August 23:
Ashton-on-Mersey 70-6 (25; Amanda Gettins 30, Emma Royle 2-4, Hattie Roberts 2-16) (3pts)
Stockport Trinity 71-1 (16; Kate Harvey 33*) (25pts)
· A fifth straight victory for Trinity and another one that started with some early wickets from Emma Royle and Hattie Roberts. After Didsbury’s tied match in the week, Trinity are now just 15 points behind with a game in hand. While two of the Stockport club’s remaining three matches are against Didsbury, and Trinity’s local derby against Georgians on September 6 will be far from a formality, Trinity are in the favourable position of knowing two wins from three will land them the Eastern Division title, save for a freakish occurrence such as a zero point loss in the other match.
