Children from baby and child swim school, Puddle Ducks Mid Cheshire took part in their annual Charity Pyjama Week, collecting over 220 pairs of pyjamas for the charity, Children’s Hospital Pyjamas.
Children’s Hospital Pyjamas is a UK based charity which collects donations of brand-new pyjamas, from the public, which are then donated to Hospitals, Hospices, School Hospital Teams and Women’s refuges up and down the country. These are then given to poorly or less fortunate children who are inpatients.
Puddle Ducks’ little swimmers took to the water in their lessons wearing their pyjamas. They had lots of fun and laughter, but it also has a serious side which is giving them the chance to experience what it feels like to swim when clothed helping them to learn vital techniques should they accidentally fall into water.
A Children’s Hospital Pyjamas spokesperson said:
“No child wants to be in hospital, but if they have to be, they don’t want to be wearing a hospital gown. With Puddle Ducks’ support, this year we have surpassed last year’s total establishments we donated to, from just under 200, we will now be able to gift pyjamas to in excess of 218 establishments (so far). Thus providing more children who are inpatients in our receiving hospitals with a brand-new pair of comfy pyjamas, knowing that someone is wishing them well, a speedy recovery and thinking of them.
A massive thank you to Puddle Ducks for helping us to continue to create smiles we truly appreciate the support”.
Rachel Bateson, Business Manager of Puddle Ducks Mid Cheshire said:
“Yet again PJ Week has been a great success! knowing we are helping so many children, makes me really proud. We had collection points at our three pools, Cheadle Hulme, Northwich and Macclesfield and the donations will be sent to Lisa Cleaver, the CHP Cheshire Co-ordinator. The children not only had a great time getting involved, knowing they were helping other children, but at the same time were also learning some really important skills as well”.
