Could you plan your career with Cheshire East Council and help create a greener future?

Cheshire East Council is launching a recruitment campaign in a bid to fill a number of exciting job opportunities in its planning service.

The campaign is looking to recruit new planning officers who can help to enhance the natural and built environment, preserve local history and protect the borough’s beautiful spaces. All while supporting the council’s ambition to be more open, fair and green.

Jayne Traverse, executive director for place, said: “Whether you’re a new graduate or a senior planning professional, we can promise you a rewarding career in one of the most forward-thinking Council’s in the country.

“Cheshire East Council is also a financially stable organisation with a balanced four-year financial strategy. And, as part of the 2022 budget setting, we have set aside £0.5M new funding to invest in the planning services.

“We also have an up-to date local plan, uniquely supportive environment, and a team approach that will help you to overcome the most complex planning challenges.

“Together, we can make a difference for generations to come. There has never been a better time to join us!”

There are a range of different roles available, and the service is looking for people of all backgrounds and at different levels. There is also an opportunity to have a conversation with a member of the planning team prior to applying.

Councillor Mick Warren, chair of the environment and communities committee, said: “Cheshire East Council is one of the largest unitary authorities in the country and the scale and diversity of our planning projects provides unrivalled opportunities for starting or developing your career as a professional planner.

“The borough has a mix of towns and market towns, a strong rural economy, exciting new developments with our local economy and significant heritage assets, all surrounded by attractive countryside.

“Our priority is to ensure we offer a great service to our planning customers, and the best way to do that is to recruit and retain great talent into the service.

“There are many benefits to working in the planning service including flexibility, professional support and training and a structured career pathway on some roles. If you want to be part of our plan, why not apply now”.
