Details of new traders announced for Crewe Market Hall

Details have been revealed of some of the fantastic new traders setting up shop inside Crewe’s revamped Market Hall.

As the transformation of the Grade II-listed building nears completion, four of the hall’s new traders have been announced – giving a taste of all that will be on offer once it reopens.

Family-run Mini Beans Coffee will offer shoppers top quality beverages and a range of handmade products, while family-run Jordy’s Pizza will be serving up mouth-watering flavours with its handmade wood-fired pizzas.

Jordan Hassall, owner of Jordy’s Pizza, said: “I’m very excited to open at Crewe Market Hall. As soon as I heard about it and saw the plans, I wanted to be a part of it.

“We started five years ago, and we have built up a fantastic local following from our pizza trucks at lots of different events.

“I have been waiting for the right opportunity to open a permanent indoor place – to have alongside our mobile catering business – for a while and the Market Hall looks perfect for us.

“As our current customers already know, our pizzas are all made to order from scratch using authentic ingredients and traditional methods to produce exceptional pizza.

“We’re investing in the best wood-fired oven around and equipment to ensure we can provide customers with beautiful tasting pizzas and friendly service.”

Also set to open at Market Hall is independent home and gift boutique Wattle & Home, which prides itself in offering handpicked collections ‘perfectly curated for mindful living and thoughtful giving’.

Hannah Sharkey of Wattle & Home, whose products are sourced from independent businesses and designers, with consideration for eco-friendly manufacturing and packaging, said: “It’s an amazing opportunity to be part of the regeneration of Crewe and the new Crewe Market Hall; my aim is to promote UK based designers and makers and I hope that I can inspire the community to support small businesses by shopping local.”

Meanwhile, popular Northwich-based The Salty Dog will be taking up occupancy of the bar with ‘The Crewe Dog’ – bringing with it a brilliant selection of craft beers and extensive experience in running bars and entertainment venues.

Owner Chris Mundie said: “We are really looking forward to opening up in Crewe and bringing the best craft beer and real ale selection we can, the project looks amazing so far – we can't wait to get started.”

While traders have been found for the majority of the hall’s 22 permanent stalls, Market Asset Management – the new operator for Crewe Market Hall and the rest of the town’s markets – would still like to hear from greengrocers, cheesemongers and butchers.

Hayden Ferriby, commercial director at Market Asset Management, said: “We are excited to open the newly refurbished Crewe Market Hall, breathing fresh life into this historic building and restoring it to the heart of the community.

“We want to make the Market Hall the go-to venue to eat, drink, shop and socialise.”

In light of the ongoing restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Market Asset Management is reviewing plans for the reopening of the Market Hall.

Hayden said: “We are in discussions with Cheshire East Council and all traders who have signed up and are still working towards reopening at Easter.

“However, our priority is keeping our visitors, traders and staff safe and we may need to postpone this until the situation with Covid-19 is more positive, with fewer restrictions in place.

“We look forward to welcoming the Crewe community once it is safe to do so.”

Councillor Mannion added: “The redevelopment of Crewe Market Hall is a key part of our plans to regenerate Crewe town centre and the building’s transformation has been truly fantastic to watch.

“It is clearly our wish, and that of our operator, that we reopen the hall as soon as possible so that Crewe’s residents and visitors to the town can start to enjoy all that will be on offer, including the fantastic range of new traders that are lined up.

“However, I would like to reiterate that this must be done with public safety in mind and we will continue to monitor the situation regarding the pandemic.”
