A man from Northwich has been jailed for drug dealing following a police stop check in the town.
Simon Jones appeared at Chester Crown on Wednesday 28 May where he was sentenced to four years in prison.
The 35-year-old of Danefield Road, Northwich, had previously pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply class A drugs (cocaine), being concerned in the supply of class A drugs (cocaine) and using a vehicle without insurance.
The case against him began at around 2.40pm on Monday 28 April 2025, when officers on patrol in the Danefield Road spotted a man riding an off-road bike in the area.
The rider was wearing a face covering, but officers were able to identify him as Jones due to his build and visible tattoos.
He initially rode off from the area, before returning approximately 20 minutes later. Upon returning, he dumped the bike and attempted to flee on foot but was quickly arrested by officers.
Jones was subsequently taken to Northwich police station where he was searched by officers and found to be in possession of a bag of cocaine which was hidden in his pocket.
Following the discovery Jones was arrested and taken to custody, a search was then undertaken at his home were officers recovered £200 cash, a number of snap bags used for drug dealing and several sim cards.
Analysis of the sim cads indicated that Jones was involve in the sale of cocaine in the Northwich area.
A full case file of evidence was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service who charged Jones with several offences.
Following the sentencing Police Constable Adam Baxter said:
“Drugs have a hugely detrimental impact on our communities, causing widespread misery. As such, cutting off supplies of illegal drugs and removing dealers from our streets is of paramount importance.
“In this case, we significant number of messages on Jones’ mobile phone which showed he was actively dealing drugs in the Northwich area, leaving him with no option but to plead guilty to the charges against him.
“I welcome the sentence that has been handed to Jones today and I hope it provides reassurance for local residents.
“While Jones is now behind bars, our fight against illegal drug dealers continues."
