A man from Northwich has been jailed after he admitted being concerned in the supply of class A and B drugs in the town.
Samuel Watts appeared at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday 13 September where he was sentenced to three years in prison.
The 32-year-old of Thornley Green, Lostock Gralam, had earlier pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of class A and B drugs (cocaine and cannabis) and possession of a weapon.
The case against him began in January 2023 when officers identified a mobile phone number which was being used to send messages advertising drugs for sale in the Northwich area.
Following enquiries officers linked the phone to Watts.
A warrant was conducted at his home on Wednesday 1 March and while searching the address officers discovered a quantity of cannabis, along with electronic scales, snap bags, and other drugs paraphernalia.
The initial search for class A drugs inside the property was negative, however, while searching the garden officers discovered an empty crisp packet which contained 23 bags of cocaine valued at between £700 and £780.
A contractible metal baton was also discovered under a bed at the property.
Watts was arrested at the address and subsequently charged with drugs offences and possession of a weapon.
Following his sentencing Detective Constable Daniel Lee, who led the investigation said:
“Watts will now be behind bars for three years and we have once again been able to prevent illegal drugs from reaching the streets of Northwich.
“While this case has now concluded, we will continue to target anyone who thinks that they can come into our town to deal drugs and ensure that Northwich is a safe place for those who live here.
“I would urge residents to continue to provide vital information about drug activity in the community as it allows us to build a clear picture of what is going on in the area.”
