Thousands of households across the Moorlands have now received the caddies and containers they will need when the new weekly separate weekly food waste collection service starts next week.
Alliance Environmental Services, the Council’s waste and recycling collection partner, is delivering the packs, which include a small kitchen caddy, a larger outdoor caddy, and information about the new service, to all residential properties in the district.
Residents living in properties with a communal bin store will receive a communal food bin and all households should have received their packs by the end of this week.
Councillor Charlotte Atkins, Cabinet Member for Services, said:
“The new collections are due to start from Monday 29 June so we’re making sure everyone has the caddies and information about the service so they know what to expect.
“There’s an information leaflet included as part of the pack to help people understand what the new weekly food waste collection involves and there’s information on our website as well.
“I’d also like to remind people that when these changes start, we will no longer be collecting garden waste brown bins from households that haven’t chosen to continue with these collections. If you want AES to continue to collect your brown bin, you can subscribe to the new service via the portal on our website where you’ll also find information about composting at home including the opportunity to buy a composting bin at a reduced rate.”
