Minshull Vernon and District Parish Council, which covers Leighton, Woolstanwood and Minshull Vernon Parishes, has initiated a link between the Axis Academy In Woolstanwood and the Queens Park Golf Club, which is next door to Woolstanwood and close to the Academy.
The Academy is a special school for up to 48 pupils with a focus' on children with social, emotional and mental health needs, giving them a safe space to learn,
Cllr. Philip Williams, who is a member of the Golf Club, organised an initial golf lesson for five of the pupils by the Club Professional, Jim Law.
He said, "I am delighted that the Queens Park Golf Club so willingly agreed to inviting some pupils and staff from the Academy. Everybody involved enjoyed the experience.
The Parish Council is very supportive of all the schools and Day Nurseries in the Parish Council area. A big thank you to Jim Law, the Club Professional who was excellent with the children."
Parish Council Communications Officer, Cllr Brian Silvester said," The children really loved their lesson and did very well. Hopefully this will now be a regular connection between the Club and the Academy. The Parish Council will continue to help in any way that they can."
