Have a conversation with the leader and deputy leader of the council

Cheshire East Council is inviting residents to take part in its second virtual ‘conversation with’ the leader and deputy leader.

The first ‘conversation with’ in February attracted more than eighty questions from residents all around the borough. Popular topics that residents wanted to hear more about included investment across the borough, gritting routes, potholes and road maintenance, climate change, car parking, planning and the role and cost of councillors.

The leader and deputy leader welcomed the questions, taking a frank approach to addressing the challenges and opportunities currently faced by Cheshire East.

As part of the council’s commitment to listen, learn and respond, residents are again being invited to submit their questions about any aspects of the council’s work, priorities and policies.

Questions will be addressed by the leader and deputy leader in a pre-recorded question and answer video, to be published in June.

Councillor Sam Corcoran, leader of the council, said: “We are committed to openness and transparency – and that means we want to hear from Cheshire East residents. We want to know what they are concerned about and what they are interested in, and we want to continue to be able to answer their questions about the council’s work.

“The fact that we received more than eighty questions in our first ‘conversation with’ session earlier this year, shows that our residents are passionate about their local services and how the council can work to support their communities.

“By listening to our residents, answering their questions and addressing their concerns, we want to continue to build on the important two-way conversation that enables us to consider and improve the services we deliver.

“We look forward to hearing from our residents – and to listening to their ideas and the challenges they put forward.”

Councillor Craig Browne, deputy leader of the council, said: “Cheshire East has diverse communities – and it’s important that we welcome and address questions from people of all backgrounds and from all parts of the borough. If there is something you want to ask, or learn more about the work of the council, please do submit a question.

“As a council, we hold public meetings that residents are welcome to attend – but we know that it is not always easy to do that. By asking residents to submit their questions to us in this way, we hope to encourage more of our residents to engage with us and ask the questions that they really want the answers to.

“So, please send your questions through to us – we look forward to hearing from you.”Questions can be submitted online using the form found at:

...or can be sent by post to:

Communications Team, Cheshire East Council, Westfields, Middlewich Road, Sandbach, CW11 1HZ by Tuesday, 31 May 2022.

Questions submitted after this date may be carried forward to future ‘conversation with’ sessions.

While every effort will be made to answer questions in the ‘conversation with’ video, it may not be possible to answer every question submitted.
