Macclesfield FC has announced that John Askey has agreed to join the Club in a short-term mentoring role.
John needs no introduction to the Silkmen faithful, having made a Club record 679 appearances for Macclesfield Town between 1984 and 2003.
In addition to this, John enjoyed two spells as Manager - the second of which saw The Silkmen reach the FA Trophy Final in 2017 and claim the National League title twelve months later.
In the summer of 2018 John made the move to League One side Shrewsbury Town, before spending two years at Port Vale.
John will be supporting the management team of Danny Whitaker, Peter Band and Anthony Curran - bringing with him a vast amount of knowledge and experience.
We would like to welcome John to the Leasing.com Stadium and will be catching up with him to discuss the move shortly.
