Last chance to have your say on Police Budget

A survey on how much residents pay for the police service through their council tax closes at midday on Tuesday (25 January). Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire, John Dwyer, is urging residents who haven’t had their say to share their views before the deadline.

Residents are being asked if, as part of the police budget for 2022/23, they would support a rise in the police precept of approximately 83p per month for the average Band D property.

If you haven’t had your say, you can take the survey at:

John Dwyer, Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire, said: “I want to say a big thank you to everyone who has already shared their views with me. If you haven’t fed back, then please do, before the survey closes tomorrow.

“The survey itself only takes a couple of minutes, so please share your views and feed into your policing budget.”

The police budget proposed by the Commissioner includes:

  • 120 extra officers recruited
  • 63 more front line staff in areas such as the Force Call Centre
  • Funding for more road safety initiatives and action against anti-social behaviour.

As well as the online the survey, the Commissioner has sought views from Cheshire residents at a number of ‘consultation roadshows’ held around the county, where people could complete the survey and speak to the Commissioner in person.

The survey will close at midday tomorrow, Tuesday 25 January.
