Local baby and child swim school, Puddle Ducks Mid Cheshire, is touring local primary schools and nurseries this winter to talk all things water safety.
Winter is here and as such Puddle Ducks recognise the increased risks associated with water related incidents. By engaging with local schools and nurseries, the swim school hopes to raise awareness of not only the normal safety rules in and around water, but also with an added focus on ice and snow on bodies of water such as lakes and rivers, helping local children to stay safe.
Puddle Ducks Mid Cheshire kicked off their winter water safety tour in November, with the team visiting nurseries and schools around Macclesfield, sharing valuable insights and tips, covering a range of topics including cold water awareness and the dangers of frozen water. Now in 2024, the tour is expanding across Northwich and Cheadle, with further talks also taking place in Macclesfield.
The tour is the latest in a series of water safety initiatives the swim school provide, having toured with their summer water safety initiative to raise awareness before the summer holidays when there is an increase in water-based activities. The swim school have also just finished their annual ‘PJ Week’ which sees children learn water safety skills in their pyjamas.
Manager at Puddle Ducks Mid Cheshire, Rachel Bateson commented:
“At Puddle Ducks we believe it’s important to give back to the community. And what better way to do that than providing local schools and nurseries with the vital information to stay safe around water during winter.
She continued: “By working together with local schools and nurseries, we can do our bit to educate children from a young age to ensure they are well-informed about safe water practices.”
Puddle Ducks teaches children from 0-10yrs at a number of pools across Mid Cheshire and surrounding areas and its teachers are all fully STA qualified.
