Police investigating reports of an incident in High Street, Winsford, have charged a man in connection with the incident.
Matthew Keay, 34, of Wyndham Road, Blurton, Stoke-On-Trent, has been charged with rape, section 47 assault, non-fatal strangulation, and section 39 assault by beating.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 19 September. He was further remanded in custody to appear at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday 17 October.
The charges relate to an incident in the High Street area of Winsford at 11.20pm on Wednesday 13 September, when police were called to reports of a woman in distress.
