A man has been sentenced after sexually assaulting a woman at a house in Winsford.
Wahib Naji appeared at Chester Crown Court today, Thursday 2 April, where he was sentenced to seven years in prison.
The 27-year-old of William Street in Winsford, had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting a female by penetration, and sexual assault on a female.
The court heard how the victim, a 17-year-old girl, had visited her friend’s address at a house of multiple occupation (HMO) in April 2025.
During the visit, the victim’s friend went to the shops. The victim was left alone at the address while she waited for her friend to return.
While she waited, Naji, who also lived at the premises, entered the room and sexually assaulted her.
Following the sentencing Detective Constable Ann Muldowney, who led the investigation, said:
“Firstly, I would like to recognise the bravery the victim has shown throughout this investigation and subsequent court proceedings.
“Naji is a sexual predator who took advantage of the victim while she waited for her friend, and what he subjected her to was nothing short of sickening.
“While the victim will never be able to forget what happened that night, I hope that the sentence handed to Naji today will provide her with some reassurance and help her to move forward.”
In addition to his sentence, Naji will be subject to a restraining order and must sign the sex offender register.
DC Muldowney added:
“Nobody should have to experience what the victim has been through and if anything can come from this case, I hope that it encourages other victims of sexual offences to come forward and report them to us.
“Cheshire Constabulary takes any allegation of sexual offences extremely seriously, and any allegation will be thoroughly investigated, with the wishes and needs of the victim as our main priority.
“Victims should never feel ashamed to talk about what they have been subjected to. They will receive the help and support they need from our specialist officers, as well as from other support agencies we work alongside, and all victims of sexual offences have the right to anonymity.”
