The Mayor of Knutsford, Councillor Peter Coan, has successfully launched his mayoral fundraising programme, raising more than £450 through his first two charity fundraising events.
The funds were raised through a World Cup Sweepstakes and a special "Dine with the Mayor" evening held at Linden Stores, both of which received support from residents, neighbouring mayors and local businesses.
Proceeds from fundraising events held over the mayoral 26/26 term will be shared between the mayor’s chosen charities for the year: Knutsford Men's Shed and the PTAs of all four Knutsford primary schools, helping to tackle social isolation in older people in Knutsford and raise funds for the schools that standard budgets cannot cover. These charities contribute to a well-connected and supportive community in Knutsford
Peter said:
"I am delighted by the support shown by the Knutsford community for these first fundraising events. Raising more than £450 is a fantastic start to the year, and every pound raised will help support the important work carried out by Knutsford Men's Shed and the PTAs of our four primary schools. My sincere thanks go to everyone who took part, donated, and helped make these events such a success. I would especially like to thank Linden Stores for their hospitality and Peter Murray of Pulse of Perfumery for donating raffle prizes”.
The mayor’s fundraising efforts will continue throughout the year, with Peter aiming to make events varied and inclusive. The next opportunity to support his charities will take place at Movies on the Moor on Friday 11 July, where Councillor Coan will be selling popcorn and sweets to raise additional funds for his charities.
