Two men have been arrested following an attempted burglary in Congleton.
At around 3.10am on Monday 30 October, police were called to reports of two men attempting to gain access to a garden shed at an address on Avon Drive.
Officers attended the scene and located two men hiding nearby.
The 27-year-old and the 49-year-old, both from Stockport, were subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary.
They have since been released on police bail.
Following their arrest, officers located a van nearby and discovered a number of tools inside which are suspected to be stolen. The tools recovered include power tools, hand tools, and a socket set.
As part of enquiries into the incident, police are urging residents in the nearby areas to check their sheds, outbuildings and vans to see if they are missing any tools of this description.
PC Sam Needham said:
“Our investigation is in its early stages and as part of enquiries, we are asking members of the public to double check they are not missing any of the tools described since Sunday 29 October.
“Both men are believed to have been in the Cheshire East area for a number of hours prior to their arrest."
