Edward Timpson, Member of Parliament for Eddisbury, visited the Winsford Jobcentre Plus to learn about the support provided by staff throughout the pandemic, and as the economy recovers.
Jobcentre Plus staff are playing a crucial role to support young people and jobseekers as Cheshire’s local economy returns to pre-pandemic levels.
Meeting with Collin Billingsley MBE, Cheshire Kickstart employer lead, Edward received an update on the success of the Kickstart scheme and the opportunities it has provided to both young people and employers.
Kickstart provides a 6-month paid job with a local employer, funded by the Government.
It provides a fully-funded opportunity for young people to gain experience of working in some of Winsford and Cheshire’s most exciting companies.
Eddisbury MP, Edward Timpson, said:
“It was a great opportunity to meet with Jobcentre Plus staff and hear first-hand some of their experiences.
“Managed by Adam Briscoe, Winsford Jobcentre Plus has adapted to the challenges of the recent year, and is now returning to full capacity soon.
“As we look to our economic recovery, we will honour our commitment to level up opportunities so that no young person is left behind as a result of the pandemic.
“The Government’s Kickstart scheme is a clear demonstration that we are putting young people at the heart of our plans to build back better, and with over 120,000 Kickstart jobs already created, businesses are giving them their backing too.”
