Musica Nova's new season opens at All Saints' Church, Cheadle Hulme on Saturday 30th September 2023.
The concert will start with the dramatic Overture to Mozart's opera Idomeneo, which centres on Greek chieftain Idomeneo's return to Crete after the Trojan War.
Musica Nova are delighted to welcome their Principal Trumpet Phil Levy as the soloist in Haydn's hugely popular Trumpet Concerto. The concerto was written in 1796 and shows off the capabilities of the keyed trumpet, a brand new instrument at the time.
The orchestra will then perform Haydn's Symphony No. 96, one of the composer's London symphonies and nicknamed the 'Miracle'. The symphony is full of character, with drama, elegance and plenty of fun!
The concert takes place at All Saints’ Church, Church Road, Cheadle Hulme, SK8 7JL on Saturday 30th September 2023 at 7:30pm.
