New campaign aims to inspire next generation of childcare professionals

Cheshire East Council has launched a new recruitment campaign video to encourage more people to explore rewarding careers in early years and childcare, as part of a local plan to give every child the Best Start in Life.

The video showcases the wide range of opportunities available in this field, including childminding, nursery and preschool roles, wraparound care, breakfast and after-school clubs, and school holiday activities providers.

Featuring local early years professionals, the video highlights the life-changing impact childcare workers have on children's development, while demonstrating the variety, flexibility and career progression opportunities available.

The council has launched the campaign as part of ongoing efforts to support the local childcare workforce, and help meet growing demand for high-quality childcare places across the borough.

The early years and childcare sector offers a range of roles suitable for people with different skills, experience levels and career ambitions.

Opportunities exist for qualified practitioners as well as those looking to start a new career, with training and development pathways available to help individuals build their skills and progress within the profession. This includes apprenticeship opportunities for those looking to earn, and learn, as they go.

The campaign also aims to raise awareness of childminding as a rewarding self-employed career option, giving people the flexibility and opportunity to run their own childcare business while supporting local families.

Councillor Laura Crane, Cabinet Member for children’s services at Cheshire East, said:

"Working in childcare is one of the most rewarding careers someone can choose. Whether you're supporting babies to take their first steps, helping children develop confidence and social skills, or providing enriching experiences during school holidays, every day brings the opportunity to make a real difference.

"Our new video gives an insight not only into the people behind these vital services in Cheshire East and the positive impact they have on children, families and communities, but helps to highlight how fulfilling and rewarding such a career can be to those who work in the sector.

“Through this campaign, we hope residents who may be considering a career change, returning to work, or looking for a flexible and fulfilling role, feel inspired to explore the opportunities available.

A big thank you also to the local childcare settings and individuals who offered their time to be involved in this promotional video.”
