Works to install a new puffin pedestrian crossing will be taking place on the A5033 Northwich Road in Knutsford, to improve road safety in the local area.
The scheme starts on Monday 12 January 2026 and is expected to be completed by Friday 30 January 2026. The project includes the installation of a new crossing, footway widening, carriageway resurfacing, and reinstatement of the road markings.
To keep everyone safe, the following traffic management will be in place on Northwich Road between Acacia Avenue and Lilac Avenue:
- Monday 12 January 2026 – Wednesday 21 January 2026 – Temporary two-way traffic signals
- Thursday 22, Friday 23 & Monday 26 January 2026 – A road closure for 3 days
- Tuesday 27 January 2026 – Friday 30 January 2026 - Temporary two-way traffic signals
Due to the nature of the works being carried out, access to Acacia Avenue from Northwich Road will be closed for the duration of the works. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place. Whilst the lights and closures will be in position 24/7, we will be working mainly between 08:00hrs and 17:00hrs, with occasional weekend working if needed. Pedestrian and cyclist access will be maintained, although cyclists may be asked to dismount through the works.
Bus services will continue and any changes will be shared on their website. Waste collections will not be affected, and emergency services will retain access at all times. Local businesses will remain open, and delays are expected, so motorists are encouraged to plan journeys ahead. Advance warning signage will be in place, and onsite staff will be available throughout the works to provide advice and assistance.
