A World War Two boat, Postman Pat’s bright red van, a Viking Longship and more gathered at Corkills in Northwich as the final preparations took place for this month’s Krazy Races event.
The soapbox-racing event, which is free to attend, will take place in Verdin Park, on June 26th when thousands of people watch teams go head to head to get the fastest time - on the longest and steepest route in the three-event series!
Danny Scoffin, of the Krazy Races team, said: "One of our sponsors Corkills very kindly offered their Northwich showroom for the scrutineering and it was really fantastic to see all of the karts making their way onto the site - all sizes, shapes and themes!
"Everyone has worked so hard and we have some fantastic karts and competitive teams to provide fun and entertainment for the Northwich community on the day.
“We are very grateful to the University of Wolverhampton racing team for all of their support including providing us with our scrutineer, or screw tin ear as he’s known to us.”
The Krazy Races event raises funds for Macmillan Cancer Support with many of the individual teams also raising money for charities close to their heart.
Air IT will raise money for Just Drop In, a mental health charity for young people, as well as sponsoring the track on the day while family team Toy Story 2 and Salty Dog will raise money for St Luke’s Hospice and TG Builders Merchants will raise money for Manchester and Cheshire Dogs Home.
The family of Youtubers, Ship Happens, sailed into Corkill in their boat-themed kart! They reached out to their network of over 60,000 subscribers asking them for advice and spare parts and they even invited them to help build it with the promise of a BBQ!
Les Randall, Corkhills Service Manager, said: “We were delighted to welcome the competitors to Corkhills Hyundai. The team were very impressed by the quality of the creations and we are looking forward to the evening coming to the town.”
Other businesses and organisations entering a soapbox in this year's race include the Salty Dog Pub, ASM Technologies, which are also sponsors and Revolution Transport Service.
The competitors will work their way through a knockout-style competition on June 26th with only the fastest 10 cars making it through to the final, where they will battle to take home the winner's trophy!
