Officers from Cheshire police have arrested two men from London following a burglary in Alderley Edge.
At around 7.50pm on Wednesday 18 January police were called to reports of a man wearing a balaclava inside an address on Meddings Close.
Officers were quickly dispatched to the scene and on arrival they found the intruder had fled the scene.
Officers, supported by the police helicopter and a police dog, conducted a search of the area and located two men lying in a ditch in the Green Lane area at around 9.45pm.
Both men were arrested on suspicion of burglary.
The men, aged 22 and 26, are both from the Edgeware area of London area, they remain in custody at the current time.
Detective Sergeant Stephen Joyce, of the Eastern CID, said: “I hope these arrests provide reassurance to the local community, demonstrating that we are committed to doing all we can to tackle this type of crime.
"While our enquiries continue, I urge anyone who was in the area at the time and believes they may have witnessed the incident, or may have seen anything suspicious or unusual, to get in touch.
"The same goes for anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage that may be relevant to our investigation.”
