Macclesfield Town are delighted to announce the signing of 27-year-old Portuguese winger Wilson Carvalho, who becomes the Club's first summer signing after agreeing a deal for the 2020/21 campaign.
The exciting midfielder was born in Lisbon and began his football career at Fulham, before making the move to Hertfordshire in order to continue his youth development at Stevenage.
Wilson then joined the illustrious Nike Academy and further to this, went on to sign his first professional contract with Port Vale back in 2013.
Whilst at Vale Park, Wilson furthered his experience by completing loan moves at several clubs - most notably at Corby Town, where he would go on to secure a permanent move in the summer of 2014.
The 2014/15 campaign proved to be a memorable one for both The Steelmen and Wilson personally, as Corby secured promotion from the Southern Premier League with Carvalho finding the back of the net on 10 occasions in 42 league starts.
Further to this, Wilson was to move across Northamptonshire in order to join Kettering Town in November 2015.
The pacey winger went on to make 63 appearances for The Poppies in a spell lasting just under two-years, during which time he weighed in with 20 goals.
In the summer of 2018, Wilson signed for Stratford Town where he became a key player in Town reaching the Southern League Premier Division Central play-offs and League Cup final.
During the campaign, Wilson made 52 appearances and scored 15 goals - with his rich vein of form attracting interest from several EFL clubs.
Ultimately, Wilson opted for a move to Lancashire in order to sign for Sky Bet League One side Accrington Stanley. He went on to make 13 appearances for Stanley last season - scoring his first professional goal in the EFL Trophy clash against Fleetwood Town.
Earlier in the summer, Wilson spent time on trial at Sky Bet League One side Swindon Town and we are thrilled to be able to welcome him to Macclesfield Town as our first summer signing.
We would like to wish Wilson every success as he joins us here at the Moss Rose and will be catching up with him shortly to get his take on the move.
