Youngsters staying on the Children’s Ward at Macclesfield Hospital are set to benefit from exciting new activities thanks to a generous donation from The Georgia Leigh Ogden Foundation.
The foundation, which was founded by Congleton parents, Mandy and Mark Ogden, was established shortly after their daughter, Georgia passed away from a tragic car crash in Astbury in 2020.
Donations from the foundation to East Cheshire NHS Charity totalled £4,660, which included a new table football, DVD players, headphones, two foldaway guest beds and a range of art and craft items, alongside a cheque for £1,800 which will go towards vital medical equipment.
The family chose to raise money for the Children’s Ward following the great care Georgia received when she spent time on the ward as a child. Also Mandy, wanted to donate to Macclesfield Hospital having worked there for 14 years, including the last six years as the Endoscopy Treatment Unit (ETU) Administrator in Gastroenterology.
Mandy said:
“We set the foundation up to try and help ease some of the pain of losing Georgia and turn something so tragic into something positive and keep our daughter’s memory alive and try to make a difference where it matters just as she did in life.
“Georgia was looked after a lot on the Children’s Ward when she was younger, and as someone who works at the Trust, it all made perfect sense for me to donate to the hospital’s charity.”
Claire Finley, Children’s Ward Manager, added:
“The money raised and gifts donated will help both patient and family centred care, and provide vital medical equipment that the ward needs.
“A big thank you so much to Mandy and Mark and all those who have helped raise this money.”
