Detectives are appealing for witnesses and video footage following reports of a disturbance in Alderley Edge.
At around 10.10pm on Friday 13 May police were called to reports of an altercation involving up to 15 people outside Waitrose on London Road.
Officers attended the scene and on arrival they found that the group had fled into nearby side streets.
Police have since identified two victims, both men, who sustained facial injuries as a result of the incident.
One of the assaults is believed to have taken place in the George Street area.
Detective Constable Lauren Thatcher, of Macclesfield Response Team said: “Enquiries in relation to this incident are ongoing and we are doing all we can to establish exactly what took place.
“As part of our investigation we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the London Road, South Street or George Street area between 10pm and 10.30pm and believes may have witnessed the incident.
“The same goes for anyone with any CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage of the disturbance.
“In addition, I would also urge anyone who believes that they may have been assaulted during the incident to come forward.”
