Officers are appealing for witnesses and information following an attempted robbery in Disley.
At around 5.55pm on Tuesday 16th September, a man was driving a Ferrari Portofino along the A6 Buxton Old Road in the direction of Disley when he noticed a black motorbike behind him with two male riders, dressed in black.
When the driver was stopped at the Disley centre traffic lights the motorbike pulled up alongside the car, which had the window half-way down, and one of the riders demanded the driver hand over his watch, speaking with a local accent.
The driver closed the window but one of the riders then damaged the Ferrari by hitting it with what is believed to be a bladed article. The driver of the Ferrari left the scene and the motorbike continued to follow him for approximately 10 minutes in the direction of New Mills before fleeing.
Detective Sergeant Thomas Binder said:
“Firstly, we would like to reassure the community that we are doing all we can to trace those responsible.
“This incident occurred at a busy time of day, so we are appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened and has not already spoken to police to get in touch with us.
“The same goes for anyone with any dashcam footage or those who witnessed any suspicious activity which they believe could be relevant either before or after the incident is believed to have taken place."
