Everybody Health & Leisure has launched Live Well on Weight Loss Medications, a newly-developed exercise and nutrition support programme designed specifically for adults using weight loss medications.
This programme provides structured lifestyle support to help participants build sustainable healthy habits, stay nourished, maintain strength, and feel confident as they navigate the changes that can accompany medicated-assisted weight loss.
This is the first exercise and nutrition programme available in Cheshire East specifically designed for users of weight loss medication.
Recent guidance from the World Health Organization (WHO), highlights that while weight loss medicines can play a role in supporting adults living with obesity, medication alone is not enough to address the wider challenge. The WHO emphasises the continued importance of lifestyle support, including physical activity and healthy habits, alongside any medical treatment.
Insights shared by UKActive following a new report produced with Les Mills, underline the importance of incorporating exercise, particularly strength‑based activity when people experience significant weight loss. The report notes that reductions in calorie intake can lead to a loss of muscle mass and highlights the value of strength training in helping individuals maintain muscle and support long‑term wellbeing.
The 12‑week programme delivered by Everybody Health & Leisure, includes working with people on a one to one basis, through tailored exercise plans, strength‑focused training, virtual or in-person nutritional support delivered by their Registered Nutritionist.
Participants will have full access to exercise classes, swimming and gym facilities at Crewe Lifestyle Centre, Congleton Leisure Centre and Macclesfield Leisure Centre.
The programme is open to adults aged 18+, with a BMI of 30 or above, who are using weight loss medications prescribed by their GP or another appropriately licensed healthcare professional.
Donna Williamson, Senior Health and Wellbeing Manager at Everybody Health & Leisure shares:
“It’s vital that we support residents using weight‑loss medications by helping them stay active and make healthy food choices, ensuring they can achieve long‑term improvements in their wellbeing.
We know that weight loss medications can be a helpful in treating obesity, long‑term success comes from building strong, sustainable healthy habits. This innovative programme provides people the support and confidence they need to feel their best.
Rapid weight loss can lead to significant reduction in muscle mass, up to 40% in some cases, stressing the important role of regular strength training, achieving 150 minutes of weekly physical activity and maintaining a balanced, nutritious diet. Taking this approach helps people protect lean muscle, establish long-term healthy habits that support sustained wellbeing.”
