NHS nurses claim victory as Kick4Charity match scores over £1,500 for East Cheshire NHS Charity

A thrilling community football match has raised over £1,500 for East Cheshire NHS Charity, bringing together local care professionals, NHS staff, and families for a brilliant day of fundraising.

The annual ‘Kick4Charity’ match, now in its third year, saw a team of nurses from Macclesfield District General Hospital go head-to-head with Carefound Home Care Wilmslow.

Held at Macclesfield FC on Sunday 5th July, the hospital team ultimately secured bragging rights with a fantastic 4-2 victory.

More than 100 passionate spectators, including colleagues, clients, families, and residents braved the sidelines to cheer on both sides.

At half-time, the next generation of football stars got in on the action, with children donating to take to the pitch and test their goal-scoring skills.

Rebecca Ward, AICC Matron for East Cheshire NHS Trust, said:

"A huge thank you to everyone who took part, supported, and donated.

"While the East Cheshire team was thrilled to secure a 4-2 win, the real highlight was the incredible atmosphere. The teamwork, camaraderie, and community support both on and off the pitch were wonderful to see.

"A special thank you goes to Carefound for hosting us, to our referee Pete for giving up his time, and to everyone who has donated. Raising over £1,500 is an amazing achievement!"

The event is organised annually by Carefound Home Care to support local causes, with East Cheshire NHS Charity chosen as this year's beneficiary.

Sarah Vickers, Recruitment & Community Manager at Carefound, said:

"It was a fantastic day filled with fun, teamwork, and community spirit,"

"While the nurses may have claimed victory this time, our Care Professionals are already fired up and determined to bring the trophy home next year!”

The funds raised will go directly toward supporting patients, families, and colleagues across East Cheshire NHS Trust.

Lily Preston, Fundraising and Events Manager at East Cheshire NHS Charity, added:

“We are so grateful to Carefound Home Care for organising such a brilliant event and for their continued support.

“It was fantastic to see care professionals and NHS staff unite on the pitch to raise such an incredible amount for our local NHS.”
