A man has been sentenced after assaulting a woman in a hotel room in Knutsford.
Michael Kelly, 53, of Nasmyth Street in Manchester, appeared at Chester Crown Court on Thursday 15th October.
He was sentenced to two years, suspended for two years, for assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
On Thursday 19th February 2026, shortly before 9pm, police were called to a hotel in Manchester Road in Knutsford, following reports of a disturbance in one of the rooms and the sound of a woman screaming.
Upon police arrival, Kelly was walking out of the hotel and was stopped by officers.
The victim was spoken to in the hotel room and stated Kelly had assaulted her multiple times, including shoving her around the room by her hair.
Hotel workers intervened and entered the room to stop the assault.
PC Neilson-Clempner said:
“This was a horrible incident, in which clumps of the victim’s hair was found on the floor of the hotel room. She also suffered scratches, redness, swelling and bruising as a result of the incident.
“This is unacceptable behaviour and Kelly has now been held accountable for his actions and sentenced for this offence.”
