A man has been jailed for historic child sexual offences in Macclesfield.
Daley Sweeney appeared at Chester Crown Court on Friday 16th October where he was sentenced to 20 months in prison.
The 39-year-old of HMP Dovegate, had earlier pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault on a boy under 16.
The court heard how the offences occurred on two occasions in June 2002.
Detective Constable Steph Darbyshire said:
“Firstly, I would like to commend the bravery of the victim in this case for reporting what had happened to him.
“Throughout this investigation, Sweeney has refused to take accountability for his actions, showing no remorse for what he had subjected the victim to. But thanks to the casefile of evidence gathered against him, he had no option but to plead guilty.
“The sentence handed to Sweeney reflects the severity of his crimes and I hope that this result will encourage other victims to come forward.
“As this case demonstrates, we treat all reports of historic sexual offences seriously, with the wishes and needs of the victim as our main priority, and any allegations will be thoroughly investigated.”
