Earlier this month, front line A&E workers at Macclesfield Hospital received some much-deserved thanks and recognition, along with fresh coffee, fruit and delicious cookies and cakes, with a visit from the charity Rapid Relief Team (RRT).
RRT are a charity who offer catering assistance and support to charities, central and local government, and the emergency services. Their A&E Appreciation Week, a heartfelt nationwide initiative in which 115 welfare events, served over 10,000 coffees and cakes to hardworking A&E teams across the country.
These simple acts of kindness offered frontline workers across the UK a moment to pause, recharge, and feel genuinely appreciated for their vital work.
RRT worked closely with Lauren Ford, a Unit Manager in the Emergency Department at Macclesfield Hospital, to ensure that their volunteers were able fit seamlessly into the department without disrupting critical care.
Lauren said:
“As winter approaches the Emergency Department just gets increasingly busy, and this can put a lot of strain on the department, and everyone in it.
“So, it really was wonderful to receive this support and appreciation from the wonderful volunteers from RRT. They were so kind and cheerful, and so generous with their time.
“It gave our teams a real boost to see them and to know their hard work is recognised and valued, especially on a busy Monday.
“In fact, Joe, one of the RRT volunteers told us that he’d said to one of our colleagues that he hoped they hadn’t come at the wrong time, and she told him that a busy Monday was precisely the time they needed a kind word and bit of support.”
