Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service invites community to attend the Winsford Fire Station Open Day

Firefighters and staff at Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service are inviting the community to meet the team and see the work carried out to help keep Cheshire safe at its Headquarters and Winsford Fire Station Open Day.

The open day is this coming Friday, 31st July. The first hour, between 10am and 11am, is a designated quiet hour with reduced noise levels and limited lighting to create a calmer, more comfortable, atmosphere tailored to individuals with special educational needs (SEN). 

From 11am until 3pm, visitors will be able to watch a variety of scenarios as our firefighters tackle house fires, hazardous materials incidents and a road traffic collision. There are tours of the Incident Command Training Suite, an immersive, 3D environment providing live practical training to incident response and command, providing the most realistic training environment possible to experience high risk incidents without physically attending them.

And if that isn't enough there are vehicle displays including vintage fire engines; a fire boat and a high-reach extendable turret, and you can meet some of our specialist teams such as our wildfire teams and have a go at our road and water safety games, which are both fun and educational, aimed at teaching our younger guests how to stay safe on the roads and around water. 

This event is a fascinating opportunity to see what our firefighters and staff do to keep us and our communities safe, and it's absolutely free. 

While there is no parking on site (we need the space for showing off our vehicles), we're only a short walk from Winsford town centre.
