National Highways has removed a large, temporary barrier from the M6 northbound between junctions 18 and 19 and lifted all lane closures after successfully completing repairs to an infrastructure defect.
The discovery of land subsidence last Thursday along the embankment required the closure of two lanes and the junction 18 entry slip road over the last few days, as well as the installation of a barrier for the protection of HGVs.
However, the repairs have been completed. Engineers put more than 140 tonnes of stone in place and the embankment has now been stabilised.
