Officers from Cheshire Roads and Crime Unit have arrested three men and seized a significant quantity of cash following a vehicle stop check in Wilmslow.
At around 11.20pm on Tuesday 25 January, officers on patrol in the town stopped a grey Audi RS6 at a petrol forecourt on Hawthorn Street
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers discovered tens of thousands of pounds worth of cash and five high value watches.
The three occupants of the vehicle were spoken to at the scene and subsequently arrested on suspicion of money laundering.
The trio, a 19-year-old from Alderley Edge; a 40-year-old from Bradford; and a 36-year-old from Liversedge, all remain in police custody where they are assisting officers with their enquiries.
Detective Inspector John O’Driscoll of the Eastern Crime Hub, said: “This was a significant seizure and I would like to thank all of the officers who were involved in the stop check.
“Enquiries in relation to the discovery are ongoing and we are doing all we can to establish where the money and watches have come from.”
