A Congleton manufacturer whose products help transform playgrounds, parks and public spaces around the world has welcomed council leaders as part of the Made in Cheshire East programme.
Thermmark Ltd, based on Radnor Park Industrial Estate in Congleton, designs, manufactures and installs thermoplastic playground markings and road marking products that support learning, physical activity, play, safety and wayfinding.
The company’s products include colourful educational games, activity trails and sports markings for schools, nurseries and public spaces, helping transform outdoor areas into engaging learning environments.
Building on this success, the business has diversified in recent years into road marking and specialist infrastructure solutions, supplying customers and projects across international markets worldwide.
The visit formed part of the council's Made in Cheshire East initiative, which celebrates the borough's diverse manufacturing sector and showcases businesses that are contributing to the local economy through innovation, investment and job creation.
During the visit, Cheshire East Council leader Councillor Nick Mannion and deputy leader Councillor Michael Gorman met the Thermmark team and heard about the company's growth ambitions, manufacturing processes and investment in new products and technology. These include a new tactile paving range designed to help guide visually impaired people and the development of a new manufacturing process designed to improve efficiency and support future growth within the sector.
Councillor Nick Mannion, leader of Cheshire East Council, said:
“It was a pleasure to visit Thermmark and see first-hand the innovation, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit that exists within our manufacturing sector.
"Businesses like Thermmark are a great example of the success stories we have here in Cheshire East. Their products are making a positive difference in schools and communities, while supporting skilled jobs and investment within the borough.
“The company’s commitment to supporting young adults with special educational needs into employment was particularly inspiring. Businesses such as Thermmark demonstrate the important role local employers can play in developing skills, promoting inclusive employment and helping people build sustainable, rewarding careers.
“The visit also provided an opportunity to learn more about the company's investment in innovation, including products designed to support visually impaired people and new technologies that could help shape the future of the industry.
"The Made in Cheshire East programme is all about celebrating companies that are helping to drive our economy forward, and Thermmark is a worthy addition to that growing list of business success stories."
Councillor Michael Gorman, deputy leader of Cheshire East Council, said:
“Our borough is home to a huge range of innovative manufacturers, from internationally recognised businesses to ambitious family-run companies.
"Thermmark has developed a strong niche in the market and it was fascinating to learn more about how its products are designed and manufactured here in Cheshire East.
“The company’s commitment to developing new products and investing in advanced manufacturing demonstrates exactly the kind of innovation we want to encourage and support in Cheshire East. We look forward to seeing the business continue to grow and thrive in the years ahead.”
Neville Robson, managing director of Thermmark Ltd, said:
“We were delighted to welcome leaders from Cheshire East to our business and share more about the work we do here.
“As a business with strong roots in Cheshire East, we are proud to manufacture our products locally and supply schools and organisations across the country with playground markings, street art, road markings and surface marking solutions, as well as exporting our products globally. It was a great opportunity to discuss our plans for the future and the role businesses like ours can play in supporting local economic growth.”
