Cheshire East councillor David Brown, chair of the gold award winning Congleton In Bloom, is eagerly anticipating a TV spot for Astbury Golf Club on this evening’s Granada Reports programme (6.0pm).
Published poet John Hunter, one of the golf club's 700 plus members, has celebrated Astbury's centenary season by composing an ode to their course.
Last week Granada filmed the course and interviewed John.
Councillor Brown, a golfer and a former member of the neighbouring Congleton club, also serves on Congleton Town Council.
He said: "The Congleton area is a lovely part of the world to live in and to visit and the Astbury club has one of the most stunningly beautiful courses in the UK.
"Television coverage can only enhance the image of our town and I can't wait to see how the course comes over on television."
In 2019 and 2021, Congleton won Gold in the North West In Bloom competition.
Their 2022 schedule includes competing in the RHS Britain in Bloom UK Finals for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Year in the Large Town Category.
At the weekend, councillor Brown took part in Congleton In Bloom's first volunteer morning of the year.
He added: “The In Bloom Team look forward to welcoming new volunteers.
“We have a busy year ahead so we are trying to get as many members of the public as possible to join in the monthly volunteer mornings.
“Congleton In Bloom relies on community participation and it is a great way to help make the town even cleaner and greener and meet new people at the same time.”
